From R-Type to Halo, Galak-Z Combines Decades of Shooter Design Into One Impressive Package
"This is a game that takes that genre's core combat and wraps some very big, very ambitious ideas around it. The result is an incredibly promising mixture between retro action and modern shooter standards. And despite being a year away from its planned release on PlayStation 4 and Steam, it also happens to be a whole lot of fun to play...You'll be up against some very imposing foes. 17-Bit isn't afraid to declare that Halo has been a huge inspiration in the combat design, and it shows in the way you're often pitted against enemies with distinctly different AI patterns and behaviors... Galak-Z is one game that every future PlayStation 4 and PC owner should keep an eye on."

Galak-Z: The Dimensional Is Indie Development At Its Best
"Speaking of enemies, the AI is very smart and will harass you every step of the way. This isn't waves of ships flying toward you in patterns, they track your movement and will even call in for backup. One particular encounter had me low on shields and I had to pull off some impressive moves to outgun my opponent and survive before moving on to the next area... This game has so much going for it and proves that indie developers should get just as much attention as bigger studios. As you can see, I'm very impressed with Galak-Z and I believe you will be too when it releases for the Playstation 4 in 2014."

One of the key things that is making Galak-Z different from other shoot-em-ups is the inclusion of Cyntient AI.
"Cyntient AI is a new game AI developed by a Seattle based company of the same name and is used to help add a new style of gameplay. Players will not only need to use every weapon at their disposal, but will also have to use stealth, cunning, and flanking maneuvers to get the jump on their enemies, who will try to do the exact thing to them in hopes of destroying you. Jake Kazdal, CEO at 17 Bit Games and project lead of Galak-Z, better explains what he wants out of the AI for the game: 'The modern shooter has many more tactical options - through the power of modern AI, you can fight entities that are almost as crafty and cunning as real human opponents: enemies disengage from combat to allow their shields to recharge, call for backup, and provide covering fire for their teammates. We wanted to bring this same level of challenge from the very latest high budget-shooters back into a 2D spaceship world, for an all-new type of experience inspired by these two classic genres.'"

Galak-Z's AI is fantastic!
"This is a genre that I personally love, so to see this game in the flesh was great! As a huge fan of games like Asteroids and Raiden, this seems fantastic to me!"
